An Alpine sports centre for over 150 years, nestled in spectacular scenery, Sixt is rated one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages of France’.

Sixt was officially designated as one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages in France’, one of only five in the Alps. A living, working, authentic Alpine village, it’s noted both for its architectural heritage and especially its unspoiled nature conservation areas.

The ‘Cirque du Fer à Cheval’, a huge limestone horseshoe of cliffs and waterfalls 500-700m high, lies just beyond the village. Another top sight is the Cascade du Rouget, known locally as ‘Queen of the Waterfalls’.

Summer Activities

Maison la Cerisaie is at the heart of one of Haute Savoie’s most extensive trail networks – a paradise for hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers and an ideal resting point on the GR5 long-distance hiking trail.

Paragliding was invented in this valley. The scenic river Giffre running through Sixt is ideal for white water rafting and the roads are some of the finest cycling routes in the French Alps. The surrounding mountains offer limitless climbing routes for all standards.

The French have been coming to Sixt and Samoëns for summer holidays for well over a century. The rest of the world is now catching on and for good reason: the summer here is magnificent! Long, slow, lazy days, warm weather, spectacular scenery and even more to see and do than in winter.

Whether you’re an active sports person, a nature lover or you simply appreciate beautiful surroundings, clean air and good food, this is a wonderful place to be in summer.

Winter Activities

Just over an hour’s drive from Geneva, the Grand Massif ski area has 265 km of pistes and a huge variety of terrain for all levels of skier and snowboarder, including excellent off-piste opportunities. 500m away from the chalet are Sixt slopes perfect for beginners. Its great snow record is partly thanks to the ‘fridge’ effect surrounding nearby Mont Blanc. With its natural beauty it makes it perfect for practically every form of winter activity:

  • Skiing & Snowboarding (with a free shuttle to Sixt and Samoens gondola stopping 50m away from the chalet)
